With the introduction of the Samsung XCover Pro smartphones as an all-in-one device for our Beauty-Advisors, we are enabling our store employees to handle numerous processes directly from the sales floor. Our customers also benefit from this: Queuing is a thing of the past, as checkout is possible directly from any location in our stores and during the consultation.
We are proud to be one of the visionaries in German retail with our all-in-one device: Our modern technology solution won the reta award 2024 in the “Best Instore Solution” category. This prize is awarded annually by the Cologne-based EHI Retail Institute for exceptional IT projects in the retail sector.
But what makes the small smartphones so special?
With the introduction of the Samsung XCover Pro smartphones as an all-in-one device for our Beauty Advisors, they can complete numerous processes digitally. The smartphones enable our employees to handle goods more quickly, view and retrieve important information and gain an overview of key KPIs and performance. This benefits not only us, but also our customers. The checkout now takes place directly at the shelf and during the consultation. However, mobile check-out is by no means all that the devices can do, keyword: 360° customer experience. This ranges from calling up additional product information and ordering out-of-stock items to registering new Beauty Card members. In the past, employees shared one information PC per floor. Now everyone can carry their own 6.3-inch screen with them at all times. “With our all-in-one device, we are streamlining our internal processes, relieving the burden on the teams on site and thus creating more time for our customers,” emphasizes Alexandra Kesisoglu, Head of Digital Retail Operations at the DOUGLAS Group
The first devices were put into operation in German stores in 2021, and we now have more than 2,500 devices in use across Europe. In the DACH region, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Portugal and Romania, our Beauty Advisors are already working with the versatile smartphones. The roll-out is currently underway in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
“We developed our all-in-one device together with Samsung and our technology partner KOMSA, who provided us with close support from consulting to conception and implementation of the project. The use of smartphones is being continuously evaluated, because although we can already map almost 90 Percent of processes on mobile devices, the development and roll-out are far from complete: Further DOUGLAS countries and additional processes are to follow in the coming months,” says Jennifer Sachs, Senior Product Owner.
“We would like to say a big thank you to our teams in the stores, who have contributed significantly to the development of our devices with a great deal of passion and meticulous feedback,” says the project team led by Alexandra Kesisoglu and Jennifer Sachs.
