Joint efforts for more sustainable Corporate Brands: Introducing our Packaging Policy

As Europe's leading omnichannel beauty retailer, we are well aware of the impact we have on our customers and the environment and want to drive positive change within the beauty industry. With our Corporate Brands Packaging Policy, we are setting strict standards for regulatory compliance, technical precision, and environmental stewardship.

At the DOUGLAS Group, we are committed to meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations when it comes to sustainability and reducing packaging waste. As Europe's leading omnichannel retailer for premium beauty, we are constantly exploring how we can bring sustainable change to our business activities. With the new Corporate Brands Sustainable Packaging Strategy, we are committed to taking a step forward by focusing even more on packaging solutions that are recycled, recyclable or reusable. In this way, are making an active contribution to reducing our environmental impact.

Continuous progress: our path to a more sustainable future

In our sustainability efforts, we put great emphasis on transparency and accountability. To accurately assess and reduce our carbon footprint, which is closely linked to our product packaging, we worked with QUANTIS – a renowned sustainability expert in the cosmetics industry – to establish a methodology to review our efforts. We realized that packaging accounts for 70% of our total CO2 corporate products footprint, based on 2022 sales volumes. This realization supported our decision to develop a Packaging Policy for our corporate brands DOUGLAS COLLECTION, Dr. Susanne von Schmiedeberg, Jardin Bohème and one.two.free!.

Our Commitment to a Sustainable Packaging Strategy for our Corporate Brands

The Sustainable Packaging Policy sets out what we expect from our suppliers in order to continuously drive our sustainability efforts. Together, we promote sustainable packaging practices throughout our supply chain by minimizing waste. ‘By collaborating closely with our suppliers, we aim to drive innovation and achieve significant waste reductions, ensuring our future packaging solutions not only meet our sustainability standards but also positively impact the environment”, says Oriane Deroissart, ESG Responsible for DOUGLAS Corporate Brands at DOUGLAS Group. From the raw material procurement to the manufacturing process, the distribution, the use of the product by our customers through to the end of the life cycle –  we work together to implement an sustainable approach to our packaging. That’s why we have set ourselves targets that we aim to achieve by 2027:

Strategic match: Combining beauty with Responsibility

At the DOUGLAS Group, we combine beauty with responsibility. That is why we are committed to integrating sustainability approaches into our four strategic action areas: People, Planet,  Products and Governance. By prioritizing reusable and recyclable packaging, we are actively promoting sustainability, circularity, and the responsible use of natural resources, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainability remains an ongoing process of constant change that requires constant readjustment and adaptation.
